Benton Lowey-Ball is our Creative Director. His primary role with MedEvidence is researching, assimilating, and communicating factual, high-quality information about myriad medical and clinical-research-related topics. His secondary role is raising team morale by doodling on sticky notes and interjecting a healthy dose of silliness into the workplace. Benton’s template for research is to ensure all information is from reputable sources and to follow the references to actual experiments, not just interpretations. His aim is to convey four major pieces of information about a topic: what it is, why it matters, how it works, and what we can do about it. He thinks a critical part of making sure people are engaged with medicine is understanding how the body works and what treatment, device, intervention, or procedure is doing to the body. This must all be tempered with a healthy dose of humor and wit to make reading rewarding and engaging. Benton holds both a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of North Florida and has been excited to merge these skills in a creative, informative way. In his previous lives he has started a mushroom farm, been first mate of a tallship, been an instructor, and taken artistic photos of people, products, and jewelry. His major interests are ice cream, writing, photography, graphic design and illustration, cookies, surfing, sailing, playing banjo, and his growing family and friends. They are growing in number, not size; everyone is active and healthy.
